Tummy-Loving Lentil Soup Recipe

                             Tummy-Loving Lentil Soup Recipe

When the little ones face the discomfort of constipation, finding a gentle solution is critical. That’s where my homemade lentil soup recipe comes into play—a nurturing blend of fiber-rich lentils, hydrating tomatoes, and mild avocado oil designed to ease your toddler’s discomfort.

Here is what you need:

  • 1-2 cups of dried brown lentils
  •  4 cups of water
  • 2-3 tablespoons of avocado oil
  •  2 fresh tomatoes, chopped
  • A handful of diced potatoes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of all-purpose flour to bring it all together
  •  Just a pinch of salt for the perfect balance
  • A sprinkle of chopped parsley

Creating Comfort in a Bowl:

Step 1: First, let’s give those lentils an excellent rinse—think of it as sending off any little worries down the drain. Next, pop them into a pot with water and bring it into a gentle bubble. Then, turn down the heat and let them simmer away for about 20-40 minutes. You want them to be tender but still with a bit of bite to them—soft enough for easy eating but not to become mush.

Step 2: Warm some avocado oil in a pan as our lentils soften. Sauté the onions until they’re golden and sweet. If potatoes are part of the plan, add them now to soften. Then, mix the tomatoes and a sprinkle of flour, cooking briefly to let all the flavors marry beautifully, ready to comfort and nourish.

Step 3: Mix the golden veggies into the pot with our lentils, maybe pouring in more water to make it cozy. A sprinkle of salt to taste, and then let it all simmer together.

Step 4: Just before you’re ready to serve, toss in the chopped parsley to bring a fresh burst to the soup. Have a quick taste and adjust the seasoning to perfection.

To make toddler meals yummy and tummy-friendly, especially when tackling the oh-so-common tummy troubles like constipation, I’ve found my go-to solution: a hearty bowl of lentil soup, with green lentils and tomatoes taking center stage. Green lentils are a little superhero for the digestive system, boasting around 31 grams of fiber for every 100 grams. They’re just what my little one needs to keep things moving smoothly while also nourishing the good bacteria in their belly that are essential for everything from healthy digestion to a robust immune system. And then there’s the tomatoes—far more than a bright and tasty addition. They bring their fiber, a wealth of vitamins, and lycopene, a heart-healthy antioxidant, into the mix. Together, these stars make the lentil soup not just a meal but a delightful, health-boosting adventure for my toddler.
